Pedestrian Gates

Automated Security Design can offer a pedestrian gate system to suit almost any application. Once we have established your specific requirements, we can then advise you on the solutions available and look to provide a system which exceeds your expectations, but fits within your financial constraints.

There are two basic types of pedestrian gate system, as detailed below:

Manual operated pedestrian gate

This is by far the most popular system. When the gate is closed it is automatically locked by a magnetic lock. When someone wishes to pass through the gate, the lock is disengaged by the access control system associated to it e.g. intercom, fob reader, keypad, press to exit button, etc. The gate can then be pushed open by hand and it will automatically return to the closed position smoothly & safely by the use of a high quality gas closer device.

Benefits of this system are that it is fairly cost effective and offers very few safety risks to users of the system.

Automated pedestrian gate

As the name would suggest, this is a fully automated system which allows the gate to open & close without the user having to push the gate open. As with the manual operated gate, it is held closed by a magnetic lock and can be opened via numerous access control devices. However, the movement of the gate in both directions is controlled by a motorised operator.

This is a far more expensive option, but allows movement effectively ‘Hands Free’. When we carry out an installation of this type, we generally over engineer the safety elements of the system to reduce safety risks to an absolute minimum. We generally fit a motor with integrated obstacle detection, 5 x safety edges, 4 x pairs of safety photocells, a flashing warning light & warning signs.

At Automated Security Design we only use equipment manufactured by well established companies, which have substantial technical support and backup in the UK and we take care in ensuring that the products selected for each job are ‘more than’ capable of performing at the required levels. Prior to us attending your premises to carry out the installation, all the necessary brackets & fixings are pre-fabricated to ensure the completed system not only looks good but is also well engineered.

To ensure we include for all the related works, including ground works & cabling, we recommend that a full survey is performed prior to a quotation being produced.
